Principal's Message

Let's GO!

Let's GO!

With immense pride, I welcome you to the 2022-2023 School Year. I am excited about the start of another school year. Our staff is looking forward to continuing to make great things possible for our students and community. I am eager to work with you as an education partner to support your child’s success. This year, LCHS is working toward the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and International Baccalaureate Programmes (MYP & DP) evaluation visit during November 2023. Our Professional Learning, Site Meetings, and Quarterly MYP meetings with HEMS are focused on preparing for these critical evaluations.

Bell Schedule:
We are starting our new bell schedule this year. I appreciate the input, feedback, and collaboration in developing the bell schedule. We are on a special first and second day advocacy schedule. Students start the day in their Advocacy classes to help with start-of-year questions and are dismissed at 3:45.

Student Handbook:
Our current student handbook is located on our website. The handbook includes essential school information and an acknowledgment page that should be signed and returned to your student’s advocacy teacher.

Student Schedules Pick Up
We are hosting our annual Back to the Nest events on August 9 (Sophomores & Seniors) and August 10 (Freshman & Juniors).  Back to the Nest is a drop-in event where students can pick up their schedules, take campus tours, and purchase items from our student store. A Back to the Nest flyer with a price list is included in this packet.

Breakfast with Benson
To help facilitate community dialogue, you are invited to “Breakfast with Benson” on the first Thursday of each month between 9-10 am. During these meetings, I present information on important educational topics and provide time for parent feedback and conversation. These meetings will continue to be held virtually. A monthly Microsoft Teams link will be sent to connect to the meeting.

School Activities - Keep Informed
All major school events are posted regularly on our school’s website, http://lchs.egusd.net/. I will send the Cardinal Connection weekly newsletters via email to inform you about events and the great things Laguna Creek students accomplish and provide school updates. Reading the weekly newsletters, school website, Facebook, and Synergy emails are the best ways to stay up-to-date on all that is happening at Laguna Creek High School. It is essential for you to provide us with a working email to keep you informed. You can log into your Synergy ParentVUE portal and update your information.

Facility Enhancements:
Our wonderful 43 acres have been going through facility improvements this summer.  Parking Lots, Roofing, Security Cameras, Activity Black Top, and Tennis Courts all received much-needed improvements.  The paving work continues but is scheduled for completion before the start of school.  We anticipate further facility enhancements in the coming months.  More news to come.

Thank you for the privilege of partnering with you in educating your children. I am looking forward to working with you this school year.

In Partnership,
Mark Benson
Principal
