Mark Benson, Principal
Mr. Benson earned his Bachelor’s degree in Social Science and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from California State University, Sacramento. Mr. Benson began his career in education at Harriet Eddy Middle School, where he taught History and Computer Technology. He later added Physical Education to his teaching assignment. Mr. Benson served as Principal of Harriet Eddy for six years. After 14 years at Harriet Eddy, Mr. Benson is excited to continue to serve his home region as Principal of Laguna Creek High School.

Niki Beam, Vice Principal
Mrs. Beam earned both her Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and her Physical Education teaching credential from California State University, Sacramento. Mrs. Beam spent her first 16 years in education as a teacher where she taught Physical Education, Health, and AVID. While she has enjoyed her time as a teacher, she is looking forward to joining the amazing and dedicated staff at Laguna Creek High School as an administrator. She feels this is a special place to be and is excited to working with the students, families, and community members of Laguna Creek High School.
Justin Harman, Vice Principal
Mr. Harman began his career in education after earning a bachelor's degree in history from the University of California, Davis, and a teaching credential from California State University, Sacramento. He joined Laguna Creek High School in 2007 as a Social Science teacher before transitioning into administration, where he served as Teacher-In-Charge and later, in his current position, as Vice Principal. Mr. Harman also holds a master's degree in Applied School Leadership from National University. Throughout his career, he has remained dedicated to the Elk Grove Unified School District and is proud to call Laguna Creek High School his professional home.
Kelly Henschel, Vice Principal
Mrs. Henschel has spent her entire 19 year career in Secondary Education at both the middle and high school level. She earned he Bachelors Degree from UC Davis in Human Development and her teaching credential from San Francisco State University. In 2016, Mrs. Henschel completed her Masters of Science in Educational Leadership from Cal State East Bay. Having recently moved from the Central Coast of California, Mrs. Henschel is new to Elk Grove and is thrilled to join the wonderful staff and students at Laguna Creek. She looks forward to getting to know and working collaboratively with the staff, students, and parents that make up the Laguna Creek community.
Rosa Laine, Vice Principal
Mrs. Laine graduated from San Diego State University in 1998 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and went on to earn her teaching credential from San Francisco State University in 2001. That same year, she began teaching Spanish at Laguna Creek High School. After leaving Laguna Creek in 2004, she returned in 2015 and continued to deepen her passion for teaching and leadership. During this time, she earned her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Massachusetts Global. Although she stepped away again in 2024, the strong sense of community and connection at Laguna Creek brought her back once more in 2025.
Sandra Peterson, Teacher In Charge
Mrs. Peterson is an Elk Grove graduate spending most of her younger years at Sierra Enterprise Elem, Joseph Kerr MS and graduated from Elk Grove High. From there she entered the US Army as a Military Police. She spent approx. 15 years overseas, finished her degrees and started off in the Elementary world in 2002. She then moved to Harriet Eddy Middle School as a teacher and then became Vice Principal. If that wasn’t enough… high school has been on her bucket list and is now in her dream job-- working with highschoolers AND hoping to take Laguna Creek High School to the next level with community service.
